Established in 1991, HEAT (Healthcare Employees Achieving Tomorrow) is the employee charitable giving program of The Medical Center of Central Georgia. One hundred percent of monies raised is used to benefit the people of Central Georgia by providing support to healthcare-related initiatives both inside the Hospital and throughout the community.
HEAT also is one of the most successful employee charitable giving programs in the Southeastern United States, thanks to the members who support it.
Grant requests which assist one or a limited number of specific individuals and/or research based proposals are not considered. The HEAT Grant Allocations Committee is oriented toward funding community health related programs. Application requests for travel expenses, operational salaries, and/or capital equipment will be considered on a case-by-case basis. An applicant organization must provide a copy of a letter from the Internal Revenue Service stating that it is tax-exempt under section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code and that it is not a private foundation as defined in section 509 (a) of that code. A proposing organization must have a commitment to improve and enhance community health as evidenced by its mission and purpose.
Proposals must be submitted on application forms obtained in person or by mail from the Foundation office or by clicking here.
Proposal deadline is June 1 (or the Monday immediately following if the 1st falls on a weekend). The original proposal must be returned to the Foundation with four additional copies. All copies must show approval signatures. Incomplete or late applications will not be considered by the Selection Committee.
The HEAT Grant Allocations Committee has final approval of all grant requests. This committee is composed of HEAT members. Assistance in assessing proposals may be sought from outside healthcare professionals and/or community representatives.
Following the review of eligible applications, the Selection Committee reserves the right to request additional information or to meet with applicants. No individual staff member or HEAT member can commit the Foundation; therefore, solicitation of individuals is discouraged.
Applicant organizations will be informed in writing of Selection Committee decisions. Please do not contact the office directly regarding approval decisions.
Recipient organizations must submit a one-page summary explaining grant expenditures nine months following receipt of the grant unless otherwise stipulated at the time of approval. Past reporting and performance may be considered when making current awards.
Recipient organizations must agree to cooperate with any public announcements, and/or programs arranged or supported by HEAT to publicize the benefits of the grant to the community.
Any publications or products derived from funded projects must designate the support received from HEAT.
