make a donation: donation levels

We seek
gifts under the leadership of Medcen Community Health Foundation's
officers, through the work of our Board of Trustees, the development
council, and staff. Often members of other advisory or governance boards
also become involved with the Foundation's activities. Fundraising
takes many forms through our committees and Foundation activities:
- Sustained Giving . . . comes from
several campaigns throughout the year. These include the Annual Appeal
in late Fall and the 1895 Society Blitz in the Spring, which seek
ongoing contributions at the $250, $500, and $1000 levels.
- Memorial and Honor Gifts . . . are
encouraged by all volunteers and are an important fundraising activity
and a service to our donors. In addition to acknowledging the gift
to the donor, we send a note to the family of the deceased for memorial
gifts, or to the person being honored. These gifts provide a meaningful
and helpful way to express concern for someone or appreciation for
a kindness or service. The amount of the gift is not shared with
the family or the honoree.
- H.E.A.T . . . Healthcare Employees
Achieving Tomorrow is a special way for our hospital's employees
to participate in the Foundation. Our institution enjoys a distinction
among hospitals in the country as being among those with the very
highest level of participation.
- Special Events . . . are composed
of hundreds of donors who give as volunteers, participants and sponsors
to special events throughout the year. The Hospice Tree of Love,
Hospice Hearts, The Children's Miracle Network Broadcast, and the
Celebrity Classic Weekend are some of our most recognizable happenings.
- Business & Corporate
Honor Roll .
. . contributions are solicited throughout the year through membership
in Medcen's Business & Corporate Honor Roll. Businesses may join
for $10,000, $25,000, $50,000, or $100,000+. Pledges may be spread
over three years.
- Callaway Society . . . gifts and pledges
come from individuals and foundations at the $10,000 level or higher.
We believe that, whenever possible, Trustees should, through their
own gifts, express their belief that Medcen merits gift support from
others. Trustees seek to give personally, or through their affiliated
organizations, a minimum of $1,000 a year. Callaway gifts are cumulative
and permanently recognized on the donor wall in the hospital's main
lobby.
- Signature Gifts . . . come from individuals
and foundations at the $100,000+ level. These gifts are often associated
with naming opportunities. Gifts of $1,000,000 or more are specially
recognized in the lighted triangles of the hospital lobby wall.
- Planned Gifts . . . or deferred gifts
allow donors to take maximum advantage of tax benefits available
to charitable gift donors while also making a major gift to a vital
community service. Our programs and services in this area are listed
below.
- Estate Asset Analysis and Planning
Function. We do not offer tax or legal advice but our
staff and volunteers help our donors understand the value
of planned gifts. We help our donors prepare so their professional
advisors can help them with these matters most effectively.
- Gift Annuities. Gift Annuities
allow the donor to receive fixed, guaranteed lifetime payments
in exchange for their gift of cash, securities or other property.
In addition to income benefits, there are significant tax benefits,
including a charitable tax deduction when the gift is made.
- The Home Value Program. For
persons seventy years of age or older who are house-rich and
need or want to increase their incomes, we offer no cost reverse
annuity mortgages and other innovative services that help seniors
take a large portion of the equity out of their home in the
form of monthly payments. Donors have life tenure in their
homes and share in any appreciation through extended payments.
- GiftLaw and GiftLegacy Seminars. In April and October we offer special seminars that focus on tax and financial planning issues presented to the public as well as estate-planning professionals.
- Estate Asset Analysis and Planning
Function. We do not offer tax or legal advice but our
staff and volunteers help our donors understand the value
of planned gifts. We help our donors prepare so their professional
advisors can help them with these matters most effectively.
